RE:Four platforms   If the suppliers have to fight for survival and business of course they'll make better products at lower cost, even if they have to do it at lower margin in the begining. Later R&D better ways or materials to lower cost but keep quality high. That should be the way. But with big bro Proton protecting them, they just rested on their laurels for 20 years and laugh every month-end to the bank [V]

RE:Four platforms   VW already has the idea of using Proton capacity to assemble its cars to qualify for the AFTA concession. Only thing is how far VW is willing to transfer its technology to Proton.

RE:Four platforms   Maybe they're not having enough manpower or just lazy. Japanese models get a face-lift after the model has been in the market for about a year to freshen things up and but less pressure on the next completely new model. I do not see that in Proton, they always dilly-delly until when market forces change direction against them only take action. Being reactive is not what the nation's biggest and no.1 carmaker should be doing, they should be the ones creating and sclupting the market and helping it grow. They only caged the market for their own benefit and when things don't go their way they have to make a bigger cage. [V]
